Mrs. Cleo Lett Byrd, 100, of Lillington passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Emerald Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lillington. She was born in Lee County, the daughter of the late Puzzie and Verta Cox Lett. Cleo was preceded in death by her husband, Carlyle Byrd. She was member of Antioch Baptist Church in Mamers. Cleo enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening and flowers.

Cleo is survived by 3 sons, J.C. Byrd and wife, Donna of Lillington, Tommy Byrd and wife, Barbara of Lillington, Richard Byrd and wife, Elaine of Sanford; daughter, Frances Byrd Matthews of Lillington; 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Selma Cummings of Lillington and Violet Gilmore of Sanford

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Antioch Baptist Church in Mamers with Rev. Fallon Melvin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday from 1:00-2:00 PM.
