Clarence Edward "Ed" Gardner age 76, of Angier, died Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Laurels of Forest Glen. He is a lifetime native of Harnett County. He is the son of the late Clarence and Eunice Gardner. After serving in the US Army he returned home and worked various jobs such as maintenance at NC State, carpentry and bleacher installation for Williams Seating Company in Siler City, and later as a farm hand. He enjoyed Nascar and in his own youth was known for racing on local dirt tracks. He is preceded in death by his sister Ruby Gardner Corbin and a nephew Ronnie Corbin.
Graveside service will be 11:15 AM Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Harnett Memorial Park in Lillington with Quinn King officiating. The family will receive friends at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from 9:30-11:00 AM and other times at the home of Robert Corbin.
He is survived by his brother in law, Robert L. Corbin of Angier; nieces, Kim Deyton and husband Dave, of Fuquay-Varina and Rhonda Wade and husband Cloid, of Fuquay-Varina; several great-nieces and nephews.
