Christine Haire Gonia, 86, of Broadway, NC passed away Monday June 27, 2022, at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sanford, NC.

She was born August 25, 1935, in Broadway, NC to the late Mary Ray Haire and Johnny Haire. Christine was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Daniel Charles Gonia and her sister, Lena Ray Firsovs.

Christine was a dedicated and faithful member of Gourd Springs Baptist Church in Spring Lake. She loved to socialize with her friends. Christine will be remembered for her caring personality and sharp sense of humor. Most of all, she cherished the memories shared with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Danny Gonia and his wife, Rene; her daughter, Belinda Barton and husband, Mike; her grandchildren, Amy and Jonathan; her great-grandchildren, Wesley, Alexis, Sadie, Hunter, and Katelyn. There are also three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6-8PM on Thursday June 30 at O'Quinn Peebles Phillips Funeral Home, 1310 S. Main Street in Lillington. A funeral service will be held on Friday July 1 at 2PM at O'Quinn Peebles Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor Curtis Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Gourd Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
