Mr. Chris Koerner, 51, of Erwin passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the SECU Hospice Home in Smithfield. He was born in Cumberland County, the son of Floyd Koerner and Nancy Blanton Wood. Chris was a owner/operator truck driver for many years. He loved motorcycles, NASCAR, hunting and fishing. Chris was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Myrtle McDaniel Kelly and Harry Koerner, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Blanton and step-father, Thom Wood.

A funeral service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, February, 24, 2016 at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Chapel with Rev. Jerome Pope officiating. Burial will follow in Harnett Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM and other times at the home of Floyd and Pat Koerner.

Chris is survived by a daughter, Kristen Koerner of Erwin; son, Dylan Koerner of Erwin; parents, Floyd and Pat Koerner of Erwin and mother, Nancy B. Wood of Erwin; 2 grandchildren, Rylee Clemons and Cameron Todd; 3 brothers, Floyd Koerner, Jr. and wife, Lisa of Erwin, Dean Koerner and wife, Robin of Erwin, Justin Wood of Houston, TX; 3 sisters, Rachel Ross of Erwin, Tonya Ross of Erwin and Tammy Wood Whitman of Baltimore, MD; several nieces and nephews.
