Obituary

On June 16, 2023, the Lord called Mr. Charles Franklin Wilder home.  He passed away peacefully at home with his wife, Carolyn, by his side. Charles was born May 9, 1947, in Buies Creek, NC, to the late Charles Wilder and Clara Ferrell Brown-Page. Charles was a Christian and his faith guided his life.  He was a member of Berean Baptist Church for many years. Charles graduated from Buies Creek High School in 1965, and with honors from Campbell University.  Charles was student body President at Campbell, and was also a member of Phi Kappa Phi fraternity and stayed close to his fraternity brothers throughout his life. Following graduation, he worked at numerous banks as a Trust Officer and in investments.  He was a Senior Vice President at Salem Trust.  On September 16, 2002, he married Carolyn Peak Wilder, and they reside in Winston Salem, NC. After his retirement, Charles loved going to the beach to fish.  He loved traveling and spending time with his Grandson, Carter Fisher. In addition to his parents and grandparents, James and Anna Ferrell, Charles was preceded in death by his stepdad, Curtis Brown Page; his sister, Lynda Wilder Byrd; and his Godson, Grant Wilder Wilson. In addition to his wife, his surviving family members include his uncle, Jimmy Ferrell; sister, Arlene Brown Page; his brother-in-law, Leroy Byrd; nephew, Lee Byrd; niece, Vicky Schiller; his step-daughter, Caroline Zimmerman Fisher (Michael); and grandson, Carter Fisher.  Charles also leaves many precious friends and relatives.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at 12:00 PM at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Lillington, NC, with Pastor Bill Grisham officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A second funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel in Winston-Salem, NC, with Jay Fritts officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, or to Cancer Services, 3175 Maplewood Ave, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
