Charles Milton Nobles, Sr. 82 of Lillington, died Monday, March 2, 2015 at his home.

Charles was born October 28, 1932 in Chadbourn to the late Elmer Boyd and Myrtle Link Nobles. Charles was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Anson, Eugene and Tommy Nobles; a sister, Claire Younger.

Charles served in the US Army during the Korean conflict from 1952-1955. He was employed by the NC Department of Corrections. He was a member of Overhills Community Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board. Charles enjoyed his family, church work and working in the yard.

Charles is survived by his wife of 62 years, Pat Nobles of the home; 2 sons, Devon Nobles of the home and Charles M. Nobles, Jr. and wife Meleta of Raleigh; a daughter, Abby N. Averitte and husband Ken of Fayetteville; a sister, Miriam Brown of Lillington; 6 grandchildren, Amy N. Humphries and husband Jimmy of Wrightsville Beach, Todd Holliday of Angier, Carley N. Perez and husband James of Hickory, Landon Nobles of Charlotte, Leah Nobles of Washington DC and Taylor Averitte of Fayetteville; 4 great-grandchildren, Evan Beasley, Ally Beasley, Lexi Humphries and Jackson Perez.

The funeral service will be held 12 Noon Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Overhills Community Baptist Church with Rev. Roy McLamb officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM-12 Noon at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America: Carolinas Chapter of MGFA, P.O. Box 554, Lexington NC 27293.
