Charles "Rudy" Rudolph Matthews, 92 of Lillington died Sunday, April 10, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at his sons house.

Rudy was born September 11, 1923 in Harnett Co. to the late Clement Wright Matthews and Bettie Corrina Hamilton Matthews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lottie Pauline Matthews; a granddaughter, Patricia Lynn Matthews Green; and 11 siblings.

Rudy retired with over 25 years with the Harnett Co. Forest Service. He was a farmer for all of his life. He enjoyed trips to the beach, fishing and time with his family.

Rudy is survived by 4 sons, Rudy G. Matthews and Pam Bryan of Lillington, Charles R. Matthews and wife Bonnie of Lillington, Connie W. Matthews and wife Donna of Fuquay-Varina and Clem A. Matthews and wife Tammy of Lillington; 2 granddaughters, Hannah Matthews and Joy McCombs and husband Ryan; 3 great grandchildren, Miranda McCombs, Ethan McCombs and Kyndall Green.

A graveside service will be held 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Westview Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Elliott officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the cemetery and other times at the home of Clem Matthews.
