Cathryn T. "Big Mama" McRae, 102 of Lillington died Saturday, July 20, 2013 following a brief illness. A native of Harnett County, she was the daughter of the late Judge Floyd Herbert and Cornelia Stewart Taylor and was preceded in death by her husband, Dougald McRae; son, David F. McRae, Sr.; 5 brothers and 4 sisters. Cathryn was an active and the oldest member of Summerville Presbyterian Church and was honored with the Presbyterian Women Lifetime Membership. Until the age of 85, she worked coordinating the Meals on Wheels Volunteer Program for Harnett County.

Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Summerville Presbyterian Church with Rev. William E. Pauley and Rev. Thomas K. Spence officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Monday, July 22, 2013 at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home, other times at her home. Mrs. McRae is survived by her daughters, Pat Heikkinen, Helen Parker, and Anne Saunders all of Lillington; Daughter in Law: Betty McRae Pauley of Lillington. Sister, Carro Orr of Charlotte. 12 Grandchildren: Jean McRae, David McRae, Jr., Thomas McRae, Robin Stilley, Jill Obannion, Ruth Ahearne, Janet Schembra, Mark Hornsby, Scott Parker, Lisa Bruce, Wally Saunders, John Saunders. 19 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren.
