Mrs. Catherine Daphine Fore Byrd, 81 of Broadway died Monday, May 18, 2015 at Westfield Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Sanford. A native of Lee County, she was the daughter of the late George Norman and Eula Myrtle Smith Fore. Mrs. Byrd was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Lee Byrd; 3 brothers, Doyle, Ernest, and Jack Fore; 2 sisters, Virginia Spencer and Sylvia Maxine Turman. She was a member of Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church and former member of Antioch Baptist Church in Mamers.

Funeral service will be conducted 4:00 pm Thursday at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Patrick Broaddus, Rev. Ronald Byrd, Rev. Martin Groover and Rev. Jim Shaw officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday in the church sanctuary, other times at her home.

Mrs. Byrd is survived by her son, Ronald "Ronnie" Byrd of Broadway. Daughter, Cathy Pruitt and husband Tommy of Harrisburg, NC. A grandson, Benjamin Pruitt of Harrisburg.
