Mrs. Bradeene Blackmon Vail, 89, of Raleigh, formerly of Buies Creek, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Brighton Gardens in Raleigh. She was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Junius Fulton and Katye Hatcher Blackmon. Mrs. Vail was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Taylor Vail and daughter, Phyllis Ann Vail. She worked as a nurse in Buies Creek and Sanford, and also served as the Director of Nursing at Good Hope Hospital in Erwin. Mrs. Vail was an active member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church and Memorial Baptist Church. She also served as a volunteer with Hospice of Harnett County.

Graveside service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Buies Creek Cemetery with Dr. David Whiteman officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home & Crematory in Lillington.

Mrs. Vail is survived by her daughters, Catherine Vail of Greensboro and Anna Vail Strickland of Raleigh, brother, Dr. Bruce B. Blackmon of Buies Creek.
