Mr. Bobbie Hudson Austin, 85, of Angier passed away July 3, 2022, at Emerald Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lillington. He was born in Johnston County, the son of the late Hudson and Eva Batten Austin. In addition to his parents, Bobbie was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Austin. He was a US Army veteran. Bobbie was past Master of the Lillington Masonic Lodge #302 and a charter member of the Neills Creek Ruritan Club. Bobbie worked as a farmer and a builder of homes, townhomes, car washes and a quick lube. He was an active member of Pleasant Union Christian Church where he served as head usher, chairman of the Board of Deacons, building committee, and the pulpit committee. Bobbie served on the Board of Directors at Mid-South Bank. He enjoyed bee keeping, traveling, working on the farm, gardening, and spending time with the grandchildren.

Bobbie is survived by his wife of 65 years, Agnes "Tiny" Mangum Austin of the home; daughter, Karen Austin Thomas and husband Roger of Raleigh; son, Bobbie David Austin and wife Michele of Angier; 2 grandchildren, Meredith Thomas Doble and husband Wes, Rachael Thomas both of Raleigh; 2 great-grandchildren, Kayleigh and Ellie Doble of Raleigh; 2 sisters, Jackie Gregory and husband Charles of Garner, Janice Austin of Leland; brother, Gilliam Austin and wife Donna of Dallas, TX; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 8, 2022, at Pleasant Union Christian Church from 10:00-10:45 AM. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary with Rev. David Luethy and Rev. Patrick Daniel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
