Robert E. "Bob" Parries, 67, of Buies Creek, died late Saturday, May 17, 2014 at REX Hospital, Raleigh.

Bob was born on June 4, 1946 in Mt. Airy, NC. Bob was the son of Nettie Opal Adams Parries and the late Bob Glenn "Tommie" Parries.

Bob graduated from NC State University, receiving his Doctorate of Education in August 1981. He worked at NC State for the majority of his career in various departments and retired in 2003. Bob also served in the U.S. Army from 1969-71. He was a member of Pleasant Memory Baptist Church, the NC State Alumni Association, and the NC State University Foundation.

Family visitation will be at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 22, followed by his funeral service at 2:00 P.M. at Pleasant Memory Baptist Church, Coats. Burial will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Angier.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Carol F. Parries of Buies Creek; mother, Nettie Parries of Mt. Airy; sister, Sylvia Inman and her husband Bud of Pilot Mountain; 2 brothers, Dale Parries and his wife Margaret of Pilot Mountain; and David Parries of Providence, Rhode Island. 5 Nieces, Melanie Rodgers, Wendy Franklin, Gigi Inman, Julie Thomas and husband Jerald, and Kim Pratt and husband Gary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Memory Baptist Church, 579 Old Stage Road North, Coats, NC 27521 or Hospice of Harnett County 111 North Ellis Avenue, Dunn NC 28334.
Funeral Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Pleasant Memory Baptist Church with Rev. Stancil Baucom officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at the church prior to the service.
