Billy Dale Byrd 78, of Raleigh, died Tuesday, April 26, 2016.

Billy was born to the late Herman and Claudie Flowers Byrd and grew up in Harnett Co.

Billy retired from the State of North Carolina as a Chemist, but he was always a farmer at heart. In addition to farming he enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching rodeos, being outdoors and chopping wood. He was a loving provider for his family.

Billy is survived by his wife, Barbara McLamb Byrd of Raleigh; a daughter, Martha Byrd Stafford and husband Rick of Chesterfield, VA; a son, David Byrd of Raleigh; 2 brothers, Bobby and Johnny Byrd; a sister, Grace Smith; 2 grand-sons, Christopher and Timothy Stafford.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 2, 2016 at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. David Morris officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 P.M. Monday. A private burial will be held at a later date.
