Mrs. Beulah Lee Dickens Howington, age 72, of Lillington died Friday, April 27, 2012 at her home. She was born in Lee County, the daughter of the late Malcolm Dickens and Beulah Elizabeth Womack Dickens. Mrs. Howington was retired, having worked with Eaton Corp. and Static Control. She was a devoted wife, mother, step-mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. Mrs. Howington loved her home, church, music, and cooking for family gatherings. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jessica Cameron; 2 brothers, Junior Dickens and Hal Dickens.
Funeral service will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Spring Hill United Methodist Church in Lillington with Rev. Terry Williams, Rev. Harold Stone, Rev. Alex Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Summerville Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Lillington. The family will receive friends at O'Quinn-Peebles Monday, April 30, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 PM.
She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Tommy Howington of the home; son, Bradley Smith and wife Allison of Lillington; son, Jeffrey Smith of Lillington; son, Mark Smith of Raleigh; daughter, Kim Darroch and husband Tim of Lillington; daughter, Tammy Wrench and husband Keith of Lillington; daughter, Wendy Smith of Sanford; 8 grandchildren, Ryan, Logan, Connor, Rebecca, Felicia, Meagan and Heather; 3 great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Jessica and Cheyenne; sister, Geraldine McCauley of Lillington; sister, Hazel Smith of Lillington; sister, Faye Banton of Dillwyn, VA; sister, Brenda Smith of Lillington; brothers, Wayne Dickens of Lillington; brother, Johnny Dickens of Lillington; step-children, Allen, Alicia, and Johnny Howington all of Lillington.
