Betty Talley Pleasant, age 80, of Angier passed away in comfort at Hospice of Wake County on Friday, August 13, 2010.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, M.B. Pleasant, Jr. She was the daughter of the late Jessie Mae Thompson Talley and Arthur Ray Talley, Sr.

Betty graduated from Fuquay High School, attended Salem College, Southern Methodist University and graduated from Campbell University with a teaching degree. She loved teaching children and taught second grade for 27 years. She enjoyed teaching at Coats School as well as Lillington School.

Betty and M.B. loved and supported their boys in church activities, scouts, sports and many family activities. They enjoyed various activities together including riding the motorcycle, camping in the motor home, flying and lots of people gathering at their home.

Betty was a faithful member of Angier Baptist Church for more than 55 years. She taught Sunday school at both Angier Baptist and Fuquay Baptist for 31 years.

Her many contributions to serving included member and secretary of Morning Glory circle, secretary of Philathea Sunday school class, chairman of nursery for worship service, group leader of bereavement committee and member of Golden Gems. Her Christian service continued with many caring visits to rest homes.

Betty is survived by a loving family including her sons, Ben Pleasant and wife Janice Pleasant, Henry Pleasant and son Langdon Pleasant and Amelia Langdon Pleasant, Langdon's mother; Christina and Rusty Harrelson and sons, Cole and Parker; sister, Rebecca Talley Brisson; brother, Arthur Ray Talley, Jr. and wife Jane Talley; very dear niece, Jan Denning Garver and husband Bob, their children, Maxine and Campbell; a dedicated friend for over 55 years, Lawrence "Dilly" McKoy. She is also survived by a very dear sister-in-law, Christine Pleasant, brother-in-law Joe M. Pleasant and wife Wilmer , brother-in-law, Willard Pleasant and wife Hazel, sister-in-law, Doris Pleasant Barnes and husband Jack and sister-in-law, Sue Pleasant Ogburn.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel T. Talley and sister, Gay Harriett Talley.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 15 from 5:30- 6:45 PM at Angier Baptist Church with a service of celebration at 7:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to attend the graveside service that will be held 11:00 AM Monday, August 16, 2010 at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh.
