Betty McRae Pauley, 88, of Lillington, passed away quietly in her home, Monday, May 22, 2023.

Betty was born July 5, 1934 in Harnett County, NC, the daughter of the late Dee and Ethel Collins.  She was a graduate of Campbell University and served as a teacher for the Harnett County Public School System, retiring with over 25 years of service.  Betty was active with the Leadership Harnett Program and served as an Elder at Summerville Presbyterian Church.  She was a talented artist and had a passion for travel.

She is preceded in death by her husband, David Floyd McRae, Sr., brothers, Cleveland Collins, Davis Collins, and Thurman Collins; sisters, Joyce Colville, Kathleen Thomas, and Nellie Rean Currin.

Betty is survived by her husband of 22 years, William E. Pauley; daughters, Jean Cathryn McRae (Michael Vaquer), Robin McRae Stilley (Jeffrey), and Jill McRae OBannion (Robert); sons, David Floyd McRae, and Thomas Archibald McRae (LaRue); step-son, Benjamin F. Pauley (Julia); grandchildren, Hillary Dollenberg (Eric), Taylor McRae, David H. McRae, William Hughes (Britney), Chelsey Cabe (Zachary), Thomas A. McRae (Abby), Matthew McRae, and Jared Stilley; step-grandchildren, Norah and Sam Pauley-DeLapp; great grandchildren, Chasydi McRae, Stormi McRae, Audrina Hughes, Tatum Hughes, McRae Cabe, and Barrett Cabe.

A funeral service will be held 2pm Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Summerville Presbyterian Church, 2065 Old US 421, Lillington, NC 27546.  Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
