Betty McCauley Parker Ferrell, 82, of Buies Creek died Sunday morning, July 15, 2012, at her home. A native of Harnett County, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Florence Thomas McCauley. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Fred Parker; three brothers; Hubert, William, and Ray McCauley; six sisters, Mamie Roberson, Thelma Worrell, Bessie Konen, Frances Messer Gilbert, Jean McKinney, and Elsie Williams. Mrs. Ferrell was a cosmetologist for 25 years as well as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 26 years. She worked at Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital, Good Hope Hospital, and Adams Kinton Nursing Home. In addition, she was the primary caregiver for her mother until her death, as well as four of her siblings. She was a lifelong member of the Lillington United Methodist Church.
Graveside service will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the First Baptist Church Cemetery on Judge Taylor Road in Buies Creek with Rev. Dr. M. Elton Hendricks of the Lillington United Methodist Church and Rev. Dr. Michael Simmons of First Baptist Church in Buies Creek.
The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 7 pm Tuesday night at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband, James D. Ferrell and his two sons, Jamie Ferrell and wife,Traci and Wayne Ferrell; Daughter, Susan Christensen and husband John of Hertford; Grandson: Jonathan Ferrell and partner, Courtney Shepard of Longmont, Colorado; Granddaughter: Heather Ferrell Knox and husband Joshua of Connelly Springs; Two step grandsons: Justin and Austin Ferrell; A precious great grandson, Carter Jones Knox; Sisters, Lola McNeill of Lillington and Eunice Worrell of Sanford. She is also survived by a host of special nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice Foundation, 400 East "H" Street, Erwin, NC 28339.
