Obituary

Mrs. Barbara Jean McGuire, age 74, of Lillington died Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford. She was born in Wayne County, the daughter of the late George Robert and Lettie Price Turner.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Gwendolyn Lamm and sister, Virginia Johnson. Mrs. McGuire was a member of Mt. Holly Baptist Church in Burgaw. She enjoyed volunteer work with different charities. Mrs. McGuire was an avid gardener and homemaker.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, Dec. 19, at 2:00 pm at O'Quinn-Peebles Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Ken Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Memorial Gardens. Ann's Flowers of Lillington, 910-893-9192, is serving the family.

A visitation will be held Saturday from 6:00-8:00 pm at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Survivors include her daughter, Catherine Reynolds of Lillington; son, Robert Lamm of Pikeville; daughter, Cindi Powell of Dudley; daughter, Patricia West of Cameron; daughter, Michelle Crapo of Owosso, MI; nine grandchildren, Catherine Yvette Hope, Jody Ricker, Adam Ricker, Scott Powell, Jamie Crapo and Billy Crapo, Cami Lamm, Kevin Lamm and Kelly Lamm; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Benjamin Franklin Hughes, Jr. of Roanoke Rapids; brother, Paul Ray Hughes of Holly Springs; brother, Charles Evans Hughes of Roanoke Rapids; sister, Linda Faye Stike of Bluff City, TN; and sister, Dorothy Mae Mercer of Roanoke Rapids.
