Obituary

Mr. Archie "Cedric" Thomas, 82, of Dunn died Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital in Dunn. He was born in Harnett County, the son of the late Oct. and Thelma Johnson Thomas. Mr. Thomas was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a well known mechanic throughout Harnett County. Mr. Thomas also worked as a mechanic for past local drag racers and the Lillington Fire Department. He worked as a kiln operator for the brick mill in Lillington for several years. Mr. Thomas was devoted to his family and a friend to all. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lillie Dale Thomas, Polly Thomas, Alice Thomas Eastway and Charlotte Ann Thomas; son-in-law, Charles Ray Dunn.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday January 14, 2012 at O'Quinn-Peebles Chapel in Lillington with Rev. Michael Whitley officiating. Burial will follow in Harnett Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6:00-8:00 PM.

He is survived by a sister, Shirley Jean Thomas of Dunn; special daughters, Patsy Thomas Dunn of Dunn, Joanne Thomas Barefoot and husband John of Dunn; grandchildren, Jeffrey Dunn and wife Tracy, Timothy Dunn and wife Janet, Sherry Barefoot, Brian Barefoot and wife Crystal, Tony Barefoot, Amy Moore and husband Jeff; nine great-grandchildren
