Annie Dell Wilkes, 93, of Lillington, NC passed away Thursday July 21, 2022, at Universal Healthcare of Lillington.

She was born September 16, 1928, in Wake County, NC to the late Ossie Baker Smith and B. Carlton Smith. Annie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfonzo "Al" Wilkes, Sr., her daughter, Judith Ann "Judy" Carr, and nine siblings.

Annie was a dedicated and faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church in Mamers, NC. During her time at Antioch, Annie served in the church nursery. Her hobbies included gardening and snacking on her vanilla ice cream, Cheetos, and Sprite. Annie loved the fellowship shared with members of the Meals on Wheels program. Most of all, she cherished the memories shared with her loving family.

She is survived by her daughters, Betty Knight and husband, Bobby of Lancaster, SC, Joyce Dalton and husband, John of Hilton Head Island, SC, and Katherine Tatro of Goodyear, AZ ; her son, Al Wilkes, Jr. of Hampstead, NC; her grandchildren, Cindy Swanson, Jerry Patterson, Tonia Bolt, Gina Baker, Hope Pixler, Ben Dalton, Nathan Dalton, Martin Dalton, Nathan Wilkes, and Nathalie Wilkes; eleven great-grandchildren; and her sister, Coreen McKey of Raleigh, NC.

The family will receive friends from 2-3PM on Monday July 25 at O'Quinn Peebles Phillips Funeral Home, 1310 S. Main Street in Lillington. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 3PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Rick Beacham officiating. Burial will follow at Harnett Memorial Park.
