Annie Rose Carter Hobbs, died peacefully in her home on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Born in 1921 in Democrat, NC, she was the daughter of the late Emory and Nina Carter. She was preceded in death by her husband: Gerald F. Hobbs; five brothers: Edward, Dean, Roy, Marion and Kyle Carter; and a great grandson: Lucas Willey.

Annie Rose started her education at Mars Hill College and graduated from Asheville Normal College with a degree in Elementary Education. Upon graduation, she moved to Bunnlevel and taught for three years at the elementary school. In her earlier years, she was an active member of the Harnett County Ladies Home Demonstration Club. She was the oldest living member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Annie Rose is survived by four sons: Rodney Hobbs and wife Roxanne of Pawleys Island, SC, Emery Hobbs and wife Cathy of Bunnlevel, Alan Hobbs and wife Cheryl of Bassett, VA and Marion Hobbs and wife Ann of Bunnlevel; three sisters: Lorraine Carter Nelson of Raleigh, Phyllis Carter Dale of Spruce Pine and Christine Carter George of Mars Hill; seven grandchildren: Lelia H. Cecil, Susan H. James, Karen L. Hobbs, Allison M. Willey, Ben Hobbs, Garrett Hobbs and Will Hobbs; four great grandchildren: Caleb James, Carson James, Bradley Willey and Elena Rose Cecil.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Bunnlevel Cemetery (on the right) with Rev. Dudley Neal officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 P.M. Friday, December 2, 2016 at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home.

As the active family matriarch until her passing, she will be greatly missed. "Mama" Hobbs raised her sons, in a Christian home, and she thought of her daughters-in-law as her daughters.
