Evelyn Anne Barker Howard, 84 of Lillington, died Friday, April 29, 2016 at Emerald Health and Rehab Center.

Anne was born June 25, 1931 in Wise Co. VA to the late Howard Hubert Barker and Grace Palmer Barker. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, H.H. Barker, Jr., Conley Barker and Bobbie Barker; a sister, Dorothy Barker Peterson.

Anne was a loving wife, mother and granny who enjoyed spending time with her family. Anne graduated from Radford University in 1953. She was an Elementary School teacher for 20 years. She was a member of Lillington Presbyterian Church where she served on the Pastoral Nominating Committee and was awarded the Presbyterian Women's Honorary Life Membership. Anne and her husband were members of the Prime Time Club where she served as travel coordinator. Anne was also a member of the Lillington Presbyterian Church Uppers and the Four Seasons Garden Club. Anne was noted for her cooking and in particular her family's pound cake recipes. Her favorite thing to do was a daily devotional and to read her Bible first thing every day. She loved basketball and was an avid Duke, Virginia Tech and NC State Fan.

Anne is survived by her husband Dr. Edward "Poppy" Howard of Lillington; a son, Bradley Garner Sizemore of Raleigh; 2 daughters, Pamela Anne Sizemore and fiancé Martin Ausley of Lillington and Wendy Gail Howard and fiancé Chris Smith of Dunn; 3 grandsons, Timothy "Tim" Marshall Grissom, Dylan Garner Grissom both of Raleigh and Zane Sizemore of Durham; and a nephew, Michael Peterson and wife Sheila.

A memorial service will be held 1:00P.M. Friday, May 6, 2016 at Lillington Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dawn Stoker officiating. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday, May 5, 2016 at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home.
