Mrs. Ann Bethune Mewborn, age 36 of Lillington, died Friday, January 28, 2011 at her home. She was born in Cumberland County, the daughter of the late Marvin "Mel" Lester Bethune II and Penelope Senter Bethune. Ann graduated from Harnett Central High School. She attended NC State University. Ann obtained undergraduate and graduate degrees in education from Campbell University. She was a teacher in the Harnett County School System, most recently at Lillington-Shawtown Elementary. Ann was a faithful member of the Lillington Presbyterian Church, teaching Sunday School, Bible School, and serving on numerous committees.

She was a loving mother and wife. Ann's sweet spirit and glowing smile will be missed by all. She always had kind words for everyone she met. She loved teaching both in her home and at school. Ann loved cooking, reading, going to the beach and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her father, Ann was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Bethune and Mr. and Mrs. John Aaron Senter.

The family is grateful for all the love, support and prayers.

Funeral service will be conducted 4:00 pm Monday, January 31, 2011 at the Lillington Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Bill Goodnight officiating.
Burial will be in the Bunnlevel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 pm Sunday,January 30, 2011 at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home and other times at her home.

Ann is survived by her husband,John M. Mewborn, Jr. of the home. Daughter,Cameron Mewborn of the home. Son,Jay Mewborn of the home. Mother,Penelope Senter Bethune of Lillington. Brother- M. Les Bethune III and wife Ginger of Atlanta, GA. Brother- John Bethune and wife Darlene of Lillington. Brother- Scott Bethune and wife Hollis of High Point, NC. Father-in-law and Mother-in-law- J.M. and Susie Mewborn of Coats. Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins



Funeral service will be conducted 4:00 pm Monday, January 31, 2011 at the Lillington Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Bill Goodnight officiating.
