Mrs. Amanda Lucille West Hair Smith Taylor, 84, of Mt. Olive, NC, formerly of Anderson Creek passed away Monday, March 16, 2015. She was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Jacob A. and Amanda Green West. Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by husbands, Earl Hair and Bill Smith and siblings, Thelma West, Ernest West, Lewis West, Mary Godfrey, Ruby Styron, Robert West, John West, and Fletcher West. During her life, she was industrious, managing several retail stores which eventually led her to Mt. Olive where she retired. Mrs. Taylor was a prolific and gifted seamstress, artist and gardener. Her ready smile and quick wit lit up a room. She welcomed all into her home and loved to gather people around her table for a meal.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, March 19, 2015 at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Chapel with Rev. Greg Day officiating. Burial will follow in Gourd Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Spring Lake. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 7:00-9:00 PM.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by her husband, Alvah M. Taylor of Gloucester, NC, daughter, Sandra Katz of Myrtle Beach, SC, son, Kenneth E. Hair and wife Marino of Niceville, FL, son, Jeffrey D. Hair and wife, Mauna of Bedford, VA, 4 grandchildren, Michael Gabbard, Kenneth E. Hair, II, Jennifer Hair and Amanda Goodman, 3 great-grandchildren, Hannah Hair, Joshua Hair and Mia Goodman, brother, Willard West of Sanford, NC, 2 sisters-in-law, Alicia West and Mary West.
