Philip Wilson Obituary

Retired US Marine Corps COL Philip Andrew “Phil” Wilson, 67, of Benson, NC and Minnetonka, MN, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, October 3, 2019.

Phil was born October 15, 1951, in Columbia, SC, to the late Ernest and Mary Etta Wilson.  He graduated from Benedict College and joined the US Marine Corps in 1974.  He flew CH-46 helicopters and served in the first Gulf War.  Following his military career, he loved to golf, travel and spend time with his family. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at 2 pm in Grace Community Church with Pastor Brad Talley presiding.  The burial will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens with military honors.

Phil was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Wilson; and a granddaughter, Mabel Rouleau.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Wilson of Minnetonka; two children, Ryan Wilson and wife Audrey of Syracuse, NY, and Heather Flythe and husband Tripp of Raleigh; 6 grandchildren, Drew, Kai, Ella, Harper, Roman and Adrien; one brother, Tyrone Wilson; and two step-sons, Tyson Rouleau and Bryce Strickler, both of Denver, CO.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday from 12:30 – 2 pm at the church.

The family will also have a memorial service in Minnesota on October 19, 2019, at Wooddale Church in Eden Prairie, MN at 10 am.
