Peggy Stewart Currin

Mrs. Peggy Lane Stewart Currin, 76, of Lillington passed away Saturday August 17, 2019 at Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington. She was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Kermit Paul Stewart and Rozelle Thomas Stewart. Peggy was also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Robert Larry Currin; brother, Harold Stewart and sister, Betty Stewart Houser. Peggy was a graduate of  Lillington High School.  She worked at Campbell University in the Admissions Office and later as Secretary to the Dean of the Law School. She worked with her husband Larry and founded Currin’s Business Machines in 1977. After the business was sold she returned to Campbell University and worked as the receptionist in the Admissions Office until she retired in 2004 to care for her grandchildren. She was an active member of Lillington Baptist Church where she served as a children’s Sunday school teacher, member of the Betty Lee Covenant Sunday school class and a member of numerous committees including the Pastor search committee and chairperson of the Food and Bereavement committee. Peggy enjoyed playing Bridge and Canasta with friends. She and Larry were members of a “Do-Nothing” Club with other couples that met monthly.

Peggy is survived by a daughter, Catherine Currin Jones of Lillington; 2 grandchildren, Currin Lane Jones and William Robert Jones both of Lillington; brother-in-law, John Houser of Lillington; sisters-in-law, Jean Stewart of Raleigh; Judith Currin Wrenn and husband Bill of Fuquay-Varina; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Lillington Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Selman and Rev. Jeff Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Harnett Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday from 1:30-3:00 PM and other times at the home.
