Orson Scott Ducker

Orson Scott Ducker, the infant son of Zachary and Kelly Ducker, gained his angel wings and ascended into heaven on Sunday, July 7, 2019, to live eternally with our Lord and Savior.

Orson lived strong and fought valiantly throughout his 27-day life.  He was born on June 10, 2019, at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC and was transported via a medevac helicopter to Duke University Hospital approximately 14 hours after his birth.  He remained at the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC until the time of his passing.  Orson was loved so much by so many over the span of his life.  His mother and father were able to hold him for the very first time as he was dying.  Before that, he was confined to an infant hospital bed.  Orson will forever be a part of the Ducker’s family who will remember their infant son fondly for his gallant display of courage and strength.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at 4 pm at Antioch Baptist Church with Rebecca Lindhout, Minister of Children and Education, presiding.  The burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Orson is survived by his parents Zachary and Kelly Ducker; and his two sisters, Aslan Ducker and Danielle Ducker.

The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 3 to 3:45 pm at the church.

In lieu of flowers, and if you wish to donate, the parents of Orson would appreciate collecting funds to purchase their son a beautiful gravestone and to help them defray costs from outstanding medical bills from his stays at UNC Hospital and Duke University Hospital.  His parents feel that it would be an excellent way for family members, relatives, community members, and friends to be able to give an everlasting gift of a special gravestone to their son.  Memorials may be made to Orson’s Memorial Fund online via www.gofundme.com/orson
