Mrs. Lorene Kivett Ward, 88, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Universal Healthcare in Lillington. She was born March 5, 1931 in High Point, NC, daughter of the late Thomas Carrick “T.C” and Pearl Teague Kivett. She graduated from High Point High School Class of 1949 and attended High Point College. Lorene worked for Woodworker’s Supply Company in High Point and retired in 2001 after 43 years of service. She was a faithful member of Parkwood Baptist Church where she was a member of the Golden Circle Sunday School Class and the Women’s Missionary group. Lorene served on the Board of Directors, Secretary and Treasurer of the Whitener Foundation. On December 15, 1950, she married Charles Joseph Ward who preceded her in death. Lorene was also preceded in death by her son, Charles Richard “Ricky” Ward; son-in-law, Kenneth C. Hardee and sister, Peggy Martin Hooper.
Lorene is survived by her daughter, Kathy Ward Hardee of Fuquay-Varina; daughter-in-law, Tamara Kemp Ward and grandson, Joseph Thomas Ward both of High Point.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 20, 2020 at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point with Rev. David McLaurin officiating. Entombment will follow the service in the cemetery mausoleum.
