Joseph Lanier Obituary

Mr. Joseph R. “Bobby” Lanier, 88, of Buies Creek, formerly of Sanford, went home to be with his Lord on June 25, 2019.

Bobby was born in Harnett County to the late Exum and Oma Lanier. He served in the US Army during both World War II and Korea. He was proud to have been a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. Bobby was an avid sportsman; he loved playing baseball and softball (until he couldn’t) and hunting and fishing, every chance he got, with his group of friends.

A private service will be held at a later date.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Lanier.

Bobby is survived by his two daughters, Beverly Nicholas (Donald) of Buies Creek and Sheila Nelson (Paul) of Minnesota; two grandchildren, Jesse Nicholas and Aprille Campbell; brother, Lawrence Lanier of Fuquay; and sister, Linda Davis of Angier.
