Retired Air Force Lt. Colonel Frederick Lowell Chisholm, age 75, of Bunnlevel, NC, born August 9, 1943, went home to his heavenly Father on October 2, 2018.
Fred was born in Brattleboro, Vermont, to Donald Angus Chisholm and Priscilla Blanchard Chisholm. He grew up in New England and graduated from Marietta College in Ohio. After college he joined the Air Force and served in Vietnam as a C-130 Navigator, being awarded multiple medals. After Vietnam he was assigned to Pope Air Force Base where he met his future wife Anita. In the following years they spent his assignments in Germany, South Carolina, California and Florida in the Special Ops community. His retirement brought them back to Fayetteville and employment at the Flight Simulator at Pope Air Force Base as a flight instructor. They later moved to the Lillington area where they have been for 14 years. He was a patriot and a man of integrity with strong moral values who loved his family. He was a talented guitarist and enjoyed playing for the church and family; and very proud of his Scottish heritage. He loved horses and trail riding and enjoyed many sports which included tennis, snow skiing, water skiing, sailing and golf.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service with military honor guard will be at Lillington United Methodist Church on Sunday, October 14 at 2 pm with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall.
Fred was preceded in death by a son, Daniel; son, Michael; a brother, Jon; and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Anita, of the home; daughters, Julia Herrington (Craig) of Bunnlevel and Judy Cleary of Chocowinity, NC; and five grandchildren, Krystiana, Hayden, Colton, Brandon and Nicholas.
