Edith Mangum

Mrs. Edith Ann Johnson Mangum, 88, of Lillington passed away Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the home of her daughter. She was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Chesley and Arlie Wester Johnson. Mrs. Mangum was also preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Calvin Mangum, Sr.; grandson, James Michael Harris II; sisters, Florine Penny, Jessie Cannady; brothers, John Johnson, Aaron Johnson and Larry Johnson. Mrs. Mangum was a master of gardening and yard sales. She loved all types of flowers and unique yard art. Mrs. Mangum enjoyed visiting friends and family in the community. She never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a hug. Mrs. Mangum will be fondly remembered by many children in the community as a home away from home. She was a member of Pleasant Union Christian Church in Lillington.

Mrs. Mangum is survived by her daughter, Shirley Mangum Mayo and husband, Lavern of Aurora, NC; 3 sons, Robert Mangum and wife Lisa, Donald Mangum and wife Jill, Calvin Mangum, Jr. and wife Cindy all of Lillington; 10 grandchildren, Lauren Ann Toler, Kindal Makolli, Shannon Carter, Taylor Carter, Trevor Carter, Brittany Bailey, Blake Rufus Mangum, Remington Chase Mangum, Summer Marie Bowman and Sarah Jane Bowman; 5 great-grandchildren, Skyler Roy Harris, Kyra Faye Harris, Colson James Mitchell, Kinley Batby and Reed Wilson Bailey; sisters, Ramona Bethune, Doris Peebles, Rosa Lee Lasater; brother, Nathan Johnson and wife Mable; many nieces and nephews that she held very dear.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Pleasant Union Christian Church in Lillington with Pastor Greg Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in Harnett Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday from 9:30 AM- 10:45 AM and other times at her home.
