Earl Roberts

Earl Craven Roberts of Lillington passed on September 18. 2018 at Wake Med Cary Hospital after a prolonged illness of 6 weeks.  He was born on January 22, 1942 to King and Nannie P. Roberts.  He was preceded in death by His Parents, King & Nannie Roberts, His mother & father in law, Hubert & Pat Couch, a sister, Jane Roberts Crouse & an infant brother.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Patricia Couch Roberts, four children, Tony Roberts, Keith Roberts, Scott Roberts and Sherry R. Bullock,  thirteen grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren who call him Papa Earl.  He also has a brother, Dr. Donald C. Roberts of Anderson SC, a half brother, King Roberts of Lillington, a half sister, Molly Sue Roberts Balch of Swansboro, NC,  a brother of his heart, Norman Denny of Clemmons NC and numerous Nieces and Nephews.

After serving in the U.S. Army Reserves and then receiving a business degree from Elon University, Earl first pursued a career with his father in tobacco warehouses.  His second career was insurance, his lifelong passion.  Tri-Co Insurance Agency Inc. was started by the Roberts in 1972 and 46 years later its still a thriving business as his legacy.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Lillington Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Selman, Rev. Jeff Roberts and Rev. Steve Swagger officiating. Entombment will follow in Westview Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at Lillington Baptist Church Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM and other times at the home.
