US Army SFC Darryl James Brake, 33, of Spring Lake, died Sunday, June 16, 2019.
Darryl was a graduate of Harnett Central High School. He has been serving in the US Army for the past 12 years; during which he has served in both the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars. He served with the 3rd Infantry Regiment Old Guard, 82nd Airborne and was also a Ranger instructor.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 11 am in O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will follow in Lakeside Memorial Gardens with military honors.
Darryl is survived by his two daughters, Kiley and Charlotte of Angier; mother, Sheryl Frost of Sumter, SC; father, Arthur Brake and wife, Kyung, of Yongsan, Korea; step-father, Carl Larson of Sumter, SC; fiancée, Raven Chappell of Spring Lake; siblings, Elizabeth Jovanovich, Alexandrea Richards and husband, Jason, Chloe Brake, Matthew Brake, Josh Brake and Matthew Larson; his children’s mother, Haley Brake; three nieces, Madison, Macy and McKenzie; and a nephew, Mason.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from 10 to 11 am at the funeral home.
