Obituary

Charles Lincoln Neal, Sr. age 89 of Lillington died July 7, 2018 at his home. A native of Lee County, he was the son of the late William Henry and Eudora Brown Neal. He was preceded in death by a sister, Odessa Oldham and brother, Roy Neal.

Lincoln retired as Chief of Police of Lillington after 30 years of service to his community. He was active in the Lillington Masonic Lodge #301 and Harnett County Shrine Club, where he was a 32 degree mason. He was a devoted member of the Lillington Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and choir member. Lincoln was active in the Lillington Little League baseball program for many years and served his community throughout his lifetime.

Funeral service will be conducted Monday, July 9, 2018 at 11 am at the Lillington Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Selman and Rev. Jeff Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Sunday, July 8, 2018 at O’Quinn Peebles Phillips Funeral Home.

Lincoln is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nell Buchanan Neal. Son, Charles Lincoln Neal, Jr. (Nancy) of Sanford. Daughter, Teresa N. Honeycutt of Coats. Grandchildren, Charles Lincoln, “Link” Neal, III (Christy) of California, Lauren Neal (Nick) of Arizona, Whit Neal of Sanford, Curt Honeycutt (Ashley) and Lance Honeycutt both of Coats. 5 great grandchildren. Brothers: Herman (Juanita), Clarence (Rosa) and Foster (Nancy) Neal of Sanford, Vance (Delores) Neal of Fayetteville. Sisters: Beverly McBryde and Frances Carter both of Sanford, Helen Patnote of Sumter, SC. Many nieces and nephews.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of his son-in-law Dan Honeycutt to the Triton High School FFA, c/o Andy Cole, 215 Maynard Lake Road, Erwin NC 28339.
