Maydell Ausley Hatley



Maydell A. Hatley, 87 of Auburndale, Florida, formerly of Lillington, died Wednesday, February 28, 2018 in Florida. Maydell was a native of Harnett County and a lifelong resident of Lillington. She was the daughter of the late Hal and Bessie Hilliard Ausley and step daughter of Inez Ausley. Maydell was preceded in death by her husband James “Jimmy” Hatley. Brothers, Sam Ausley of Dunn, Elbert Ausley of Florida, and Doyce Ausley of Lillington. Sister, Agnes “Tot” Emig of Maryland.

Maydell retired from the Harnett County Department of Social Services after many years of service. She was a faithful and longtime member of Lillington Baptist Church.

A Celebration of her life will be conducted 3:00 pm Sunday, March 4, 2018 at the Lillington Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Selman officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery in Lillington. The family will receive friends from 2:00-2:45 pm prior to the service in the church sanctuary, other times, after 3:00 pm on Saturday, at the home of Cecil and Kay Peebles, 210 S. 13th St., Lillington.

Maydell was survived by her son, Sammy Hatley and his wife, Dianne from Auburndale, Florida. Grandsons, Chad Hatley of Lillington and Chase Hatley and his wife Jennifer of Auburndale, Florida. Grandchildren, Wyatt, William, Chance, and Charlotte Hatley. Sister, Mary Jones of Southport. Step sister, Joyce Gies of Lillington. Brother, Wyatt Ausley and wife Teresa of Hendersonville. Many nieces and nephews.
