Mrs. Annie M. “Jo” Bethune, 93 of Lillington died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at WakeMed in Raleigh. Jo was the daughter of the late Guy and Eva Dean Morgan and was preceded in death by her husband Hooper Bethune and a brother, Irvin Morgan. Born in Granville County, Jo moved to the Lillington area in 1930 where she met and married her husband. Together they operated the Bethune Stockyard, Community Cleaning Center and Car Wash. In addition, Jo operated a beauty salon for many years. She was an active member of the Lillington Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years. She was the WMU director in the 1960’s, a choir member all her adult life, and served on two pulpit committees. Jo was past Training Union Director for the Little River Baptist Association.
A Memorial Service will be conducted 2:00 pm Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Lillington Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Smith and Rev. Don Bowen officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at her home.

She is survived by her sons, Larry Bethune and wife Judy of Lillington. Al Bethune and wife Diane of Apex. 3 Grandchildren, Jennifer Holland, Jason Bethune and Kristen Bethune. 2 great grandchildren, Jackson and Anderson Holland. In addition to her children, she is survived by a dear friend Sandy Howard.
